Fashion Illustration - ALLO

Fashion Illustration - ALLO

Last in the series of fashion illustrations for ALLO - A life less ordinary Blog
This time it's fitness and sportswear to kick start a brand new year.

I enjoyed colouring this little illustration as I used my new Spectrum Markers.
They are a little hard to get used to and very different from my Copic markers, but I love the overall finished piece.

Stylist Illustrated Edition

Stylist Illustrated Edition

Before Christmas Stylist Magazine created a special Illustrated Edition.
The Magazine was a delight from start to finish, my favourite pages were illustrated, even the title borders.

My favourite page in Stylist Magazine every week is The Style List and having all the items illustrated made it all the more interesting.

The fashion pages were particularly beautiful with a winter wonderland theme complete with wild forest animals alongside the models. These fashion pages were illustrated by Alex Green.

It's really inspiring and encouraging having a magazine like Stylist put so much effort into an art form.

Fu's Quest for Ramen!

Fu's Quest for Ramen!

Fu's Quest for Ramen, is a short comic made by local Leeds Travelling man artist and employee Ken McFarlane. View his blog here.

A comic in black, white and grey but beautifully illustrated, and Fu is a very cute Ninja character.
Fu's Quest for Ramen is exactly that a little Ninja character named Fu goes on a quest to find ramen noodles and takes you on the journey with him. It is really inspiring that someone can create a character with such a strong personality but simplistic style. The tiniest gestures convey the most powerful emotions.

I picked up my comic of Fu's Quest at the Leeds Travelling Man for only £1.75.
I couldn't resist the chance to support a local artist and purchasing some great artwork.
Head over to the Travelling Man Leeds to pick up your own copy, or now you can actually read Fu's Quest online for free, just click here.

New Year's resolutions

New Year's resolutions

So the plan for 2013 was as below, here were my resolutions for 2013:

1. Eat much more healthily and exercise
2. Take more photos
3. Learn more craft techniques (any medium)
4. Be more creative and enter more competitions
5. Make more time for friends
6. Keep an up to date diary of events
I also saw this great idea on the Scathingly Brilliant Blog.
Where over the course of a year you write down all the good things that happen to you on pieces of paper, keep them in a jar, then on the turn of the new year you read them out and discover the happiness of the past year all over again.
7. Is to follow the above idea of writing down all the good things 2013 may bring.

2013 overall was a great year, I completed my sketchbook project, got a whole lot more creative, Tom and I moved into a new house with a lot more space, we have a joint office now where I have a really awesome work space.
From my 2013 resolutions I did indeed eat more healthy (though it was towards the end of the year) Tom and I tried the Atkins diet and although it made me grouchy at first I managed to shed a little bit of weight and feel more confident. I did take a lot more photos thanks to both my camera, smart phone and instagram. I didn't really learn any new craft techniques though I did create more varied work thanks to my sketchbook project (this also counts as being more creative and entering more competitions). Making more time for friends - I would like to work on this more as many of my friends live far away, it would be nice to see them more. Keep an up to date diary of events - sorry this didn't happen, not for my life outside of work anyway. And for the last resolution to keep a jar of all the good things to happen in 2013, I think I only lasted until the end of January for this challenge but I would like to try again this year.

So my resolutions for 2014 are:

1. Be even more creative and enter competitions or contests
2. Good things in 2014 jar
3. Continue to take a lot of photos - more family ones
4. Visit the Cinema or go out for a meal more often
5. Work on/Start up an Etsy/Online shop

New Years Day at Donna Nook

New Years Day at Donna Nook

Just like a couple of years ago we visited Donna Nook and all the seal pups.
Although there were not as many as the previous year it is still a nice place to visit, however the icy wind and rain made it difficult. Overall it was a lovely New Year's Day visiting seal pups, getting take out Chinese food and games.
