Sketchbook Project update

Sketchbook Project update

One of my favourite pieces from my sketchbook project so far.
My sister Laura and I holding hands as children.
The piece was created with copic fine liner and marker colours.
Even the back of the page looks interesting.

Cooking with Harriet

Cooking with Harriet

I love sweets and treats so the only cooking I usually do is baking.
But Tom has now gone on the Atkins diet and I've said I would do it with him.
Now this isn't good for my sweet tooth which is really craving the sugar.

So I've been in search of new recipes.
Last weekend I cooked a cheese, bacon, ham and salami quiche without the pastry, and to accompany it I made a salsa. It made for a very tasty lunch.

A little catch-up of my sketchbook project

A little catch-up of my sketchbook project

I finally finished my 'Ahoy There' embroidery piece for my sketchbook project - I see no ships.
I decided to mount it on some coloured thick paper making the piece stand out.

Gaming character painting

Gaming character painting

I've been working on a gaming character piece for Tom's office space.
The piece includes all our favourite and iconic characters from both main stream and indie games.
Below is the sketch I drew to work out the layout and proportions.
I'll post some more photos on the progress soon.

30 DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE

30 DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE

I've seen a lot of 30 day drawing challenges on websites or blogs, and wanted to take part in one.
But which to choose? I decided to look at a few and take the pieces I liked from them and make my own 30 day drawing challenge.

I looked at Brooke's 28 day sketchbook challenge and this link(sorry not sure of the original link to who created this drawing challenge).

Here is my 30 day drawing challenge.

I'll be starting the challenge a couple of days early just so I can post on the correct days in November.

Please let me know if you decide to take part as I would love to see your work.

Cute Paperchase sale finds

Cute Paperchase sale finds

I stopped by the Paperchase sale the other night on my way home from work and managed to find myself two cute little treats. I love a good Paperchase sale.
The first being a lip balm duo, I found the flavours really interesting as I love watermelon and thought the simplistic design and lettering was cute.
Lip balms £2.00

The second a notepad for work with a monochrome bird and leaf design on both the front and the inside.
Notebook £3.50

Fashion Illustration - ALLO

Fashion Illustration - ALLO

This is the latest in the series of fashion/beauty illustrations for ALLO A life less ordinary blog.

I think this is my favourite of all the illustrations so far, I loved the little robot and couldn't resist adding it to the sketch.

Up up and away...

Up up and away...

As it was both my parents birthdays and their wedding anniversary within a week, my sister and I decided to give them a very special gift.
Here's the card I made for them.

I started by folding my card in four lines, make sure both sides are equal.
Below you can see what it looks like when folded together.
I then cut out a large square from the front.

On the cut out square I drew a hot air balloon.
And Moby 'helped'.

I then cut out the balloon and painted both the balloon and the back side of the card that can be seen through the window. I wanted the balloon to really stand out so I chose red and yellow stripes against a blue sky background.

Then this is the assembled piece.
I think it's pretty obvious of the gift from the card.

Fashion Illustrations ALLO

Fashion Illustrations ALLO

The latest fashion illustration I have worked on for ALLO blog is a Selfidges and Elle beauty box.

I enjoyed this little fashion illustration as there are quite a lot of different elements to concentrate on, and the way Clare photographs her items makes it really easy to transfer them to illustrations.

I decided to work on a separate illustration of the nail varnish within this piece as the bottle itself was so cute.
